Edward Colonna, ‘Buckle’, ca. 1900, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum

Made for Samuel Bing's display at the 1900 Paris World's Fair, this buckle features the sinous flow associated with rococo style. Its form is much like the back of a John Henry Belter chair (in upstairs gallery), made in about 1850.
