About Elizabeth Pedinotti

“My photographs are recreations of memories that I do not have,” says Elizabeth Pedinotti of her dreamy, atmospheric images. Focusing on children, toys, hair, and domestic settings, the American photographer considers the viewpoint of various familial roles—child, mother, or grandmother—to explore the way perspective alters perception. She leaves her images ambiguous, portraying a moment paused in the middle of undefined action and relying on the viewer to interpret the narrative based on their personal experiences and memories. Offering only a few visual clues and filtering her images through an ambiguous haze, Pedinotti intends to offer a jumping off point for viewers to spark their own memories and associations.
