Ellen Phelan, ‘Autumn Border II’, 2008, CalArts Benefit

Through her extensive career, Ellen Phelan has experimented with numerous techniques and media to create landscapes, still lifes, portraits, renderings of dolls, and abstract works on paper, including rubbings, stencils, and works in charcoal, gouache, and watercolor. Many of her evocative landscape paintings are based on photographic images.
