Fahar Al Salih, ‘Four Shades Of White’, 2018, contemp-rent

Since 2003, Fahar has been creating his mixed-media works with sponges. The works are evidence of both his cultural background and his examination of contemporary Western art. This connection is reflected in a canon of materials that separates from tradition and creates free spaces to develop an individual design language.
The industrial sponge plays a crucial role in these works. Like the clay of classical mosaics, it is ductile and soft; only through hardening does it become unchangeable and durable.
