About Francis Davis Millet

Francis Davis "Frank" Millet was best known for his historically accurate murals. His wide-ranging career included work with world's fairs across the globe as commissioned artist, juror, and advisor. In addition, Millet was a writer who published short stories and worked as a war correspondent during the Russo-Turkish War and the Spanish American War. Millet was a founder of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and was involved with the American Academy in Rome; Millet died on the Titanic while returning from Academy business in Europe.
