About François Curlet

Conceptual artist François Curlet uses readymades in his installation projects, isolating objects or language in unexpected and mysterious ways to bring attention to corners of reality that go unnoticed. His work has an playful quality, but is also darkly absurd. For instance in Chaquarium (2003), Curlet locked a cat in a room with high glass walls, decorated with coral and a white gravel floor, and in Boulevard (2005) a dirty ostrich walked around the gallery floor, leaving footprints in wet cement.
