About Gabriela Albergaria
Gabriela Albergaria uses photography, drawing, installations, and sculptures to explore the subject of gardens and trees, and their histories. In works such as Fictional Landscape… (2011), which fused drawings and prints into a fragmented snapshot of a garden, Albergaria transforms the natural world to reflect her own subjective experience of landscape. During a residency at the University of Oxford Botanic Garden, she produced Dead Tree (Waiting) (2010-), an installation consisting of a shingle oak buried up to the base of its crown and left to rot in situ.
