This painting is one of artist Gary Oakley’s favorites. The foreground has lots of texture and small scratches that reveal the dull orange underpainting. Detail fades towards the back until small black trees emerge from a line of purple/blue hills and a haphazard, whimsical sky. The inspiration was fall scenery. The foreground followed patterns Oakley made in the underpainting by accident as he painted in a free-flowing style. The piece is ready to hang. It has retouch varnish but is not glossy. The sides have a pleasant sloppy border.
