Gary Webb, ‘Thinking of me’, 2016, Galerie Mitterrand

About Gary Webb

Engaging with the history of Modernist sculpture, particularly the work of Constantin Brâncuşi, as well as pop culture, Gary Webb creates sculptures and assemblages that become a sensory experience. Using a diverse array of natural and man-made materials—including Perspex, neon, cut-out metal, fabric, rubber, and often sound (such as a song from a film or a phrase that has some personal relevance), as well as wood, sand, marble and rock crystal—Webb’s installations are distinguished by their colorful, glossy surfaces, frequently achieved with automotive paint, as well as the balance between the work’s component parts.
