George Earl Ortman, ‘PEACE (from the Peace Portfolio)’, 1970, Alpha 137 Gallery

This simple words on this print PEACE - is a timeless message that is as urgent and resonant today, as it was 50 years ago when it was first created. Other artists who contributed to this portfolio, created to raise funds to end the Vietnam War at the turn of the decade of the 1970s were: Lee Krasner, Adolph Gottlieb, Esteban Vicente, Robert Motherwell, Larry Zox and Robert Rauschenberg. This Ortman print though is my absolute all time favorite. Period. I love everything about it - the colors, the text, the images which are geometric abstractions but also reference American Indian motifs.
