About Gérard Brossard

Gérard Brossard was among the post-war ceramic artists who settled in the town of La Borne, France. Inspired by the husband-and-wife team of Jean and Jacqueline Lerat, these artists developed new ways of expressing themselves through pottery, with complex geometries and raw textures. Developed in conversation with Abstract Expressionism, their abstract creations looked back to pottery’s primitive roots, while elevating the medium from craft to art.
