This piece appears in the catalogue titled GLENDA LEON — CADA RESPIRO, published on the occasion of one of the artist's most recent solo shows. The exhibition was held at the Atlantic Center for Modern Art, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain (January 29-May 22, 2016).

About Glenda Leon

Trained in classical ballet, Cuban conceptual artist Glenda Leon creates video, installation, public interventions, and photography that examine the relationship between the man-made and the natural, often highlighting the folly of human timekeeping. As Leon has said, “it takes a whole lifetime to create an artwork.” Her work Wasted Time consists of a mountain of sand that has engulfed an hourglass, and in the summer of 2004, the artist glued fake green leaves to tree branches in a public park for her work Esperanza (Out of Season). When the seasons changed, the surrounding leaves turned brown and fell to the ground, only then revealing their artificial counterparts.
