The image of a jet comes from the back of a plane ticket issued by the now defunct Spantax airline found in my father’s papers. Having worked and studied in the U.S., he returned to Iran in the wake of the revolution, but eventually he was forced to flee. It is likely that he used this ticket to return to the United States after escaping Iran on horseback to Turkey, then to Spain. The title refers to a line from a letter he wrote to a lover. I replicated the handwritten line, repeatedly embroidered upon the image of the airliner in transit.
