Goyo Hashiguchi, ‘Woman Wearing a Tabi’, Designed 1920, Ronin Gallery

A seated young woman floats on a grey ground a with her head bent as she examines her tabi. This entire print is made only with a few contours, but the variety of widths of each line creates a dominant image. Her belt and the slight detail in her hair is the only place where color appears. Supervised by Yasuo Hashiguchi this was printed in 1952 from one of Goyo's drawings.
