Helsen painted this piece during summer 2014 while preparing an exhibition for a gallery which was located in a sculpture park with a pond, the atmosphere was blissful and inspiring.

"Color gardening VI" is a transposition on canvas of Helsen's impressions, colors evoking the leaves and flowers, a reminiscence of nature.

About Greet Helsen

Greet Helsen draws inspiration from the natural world to produce abstract landscapes composed of acrylic paint, which she approaches like watercolor, rendering thin washes of the pigment. Typically set against bright white backgrounds, the shimmering, luminous color blocks and lines in her paintings are accentuated, creating qualities of lightness and softness and an almost ethereal effect.
