About Greg Drasler

Blurring the line between photorealistic representation and surreal fantasy, painter Greg Drasler infuses ordinary objects, places, and scenes with dreamlike strangeness and playful double meanings. As he writes: “I paint objects and places because the act of painting repacks these things with new meanings and additional destinations.” In Mergers and Acquisitions (2011), for example, he paints an open car making its way over water, with three steering wheels and a lantern posed on the roof, creating a witty visual pun of “one if by land and two if by sea.”
