This is probably the black cat who appears in several paintings of the late 1910s and early 1920s, including "Young Woman Holding a Black Cat" (Tate Gallery, London, illus. as pl. 137, no. 73 in Cecily Langdale, "Gwen John: with a Catalogue Raisonne of the Paintings and a Selection of the Drawings" (1987), and various drawings (Ibid., pl. 346, no. 296)
