About Hervé van der Straeten

First known for his jewelry designs, Hervé Van der Straeten is now best known for his bold furniture and lighting, which blends various materials, including hand-wrought bronze, applied lacquer, and polished wood. Drawing from inspirations including origami and tree branches, Van der Straeten’s designs often feature voluminous forms or lattice-like constructions, characterized by a sense of movement and playfulness. Van der Straeten designed jewelry for runway shows by Christian Lacroix and Yves Saint Laurent, as well as the iconic bottle for Dior’s “J’Adore” fragrance. He has worked with the designers Alberto Pinto, Robert Couturier, Alexandre Biaggi, and Thierry Mugler.
