The Man in the Pinstripe Suit

About Inez Storer

Inez Storer’s oil and mixed-media paintings carve out fantastical realms in which she navigates cultural memory and her multiple identities, including a Jewish heritage that she only learned about in adulthood. Her figures occupy abstracted spaces peppered with disordered personal ephemera sourced from her life, functioning as avatars through which she attempts to make sense of her personal history. Storer employs images of transitory vessels, such as boats, alluding to both the Jewish diaspora and serving as a metaphor for the conflation of divergent periods and geographies in individual identities.
