About Isabel Rocamora

Filmmaker Isabel Rocamora explores individual and cultural identities, war, and exile through the language of human gesture. Horizon of Exile (2007) is a two-channel, 22-minute-long meditation on stories of female exile, inspired by testimonies of Iraqi refugee women; it depicts female actors—whose choreographed movements address issues of land and identity—as they traverse a barren desert. Body of War (2010), which includes choreographed violence and testimonies of serving soldiers, reflects on the process through which a man becomes a soldier, exposed to the relentless repetition of acts of violence.
