Jamal Abdul Rahim, ‘Abdul Nasir’, 2006, Meem Gallery

About Jamal Abdul Rahim

Jamal Abdul Rahim is a self-taught artist who works in a bright color palette that references both Bahrain’s hot climate and his interest in the tradition of artists such as Joan Miró. The imagery Rahim uses in his prints, sculptures, and paintings comes from sources as varied as the curving forms of Arabic calligraphy, the ancient stories of Gilgamesh and Greek mythology, and the legacy of pop art portraiture. Brought together, these elements create a bold visual language steeped in Rahim’s personal history.
