About James Greco

Brooklyn-based painter and sculptor James Greco claims to be influenced by a variety of different artists across several mediums, including Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Dr. Seuss, and Samuel Beckett. Employing oil paints, epoxy resins, house paint, and other mixed media, Greco creates both small- and large-scale abstract paintings. Dark and expressionistic, the paintings are made sardonic with macabre titles like Swallowing Butterflies Just to Watch and Dracula Mountain. Says Greco of his work, “There is a space between ugliness and elegance where beauty is born and lives. My efforts are inspired by this space, my paintings reflect it.”
