About James Minden

James Minden has made a career out of printmaking, drawing, and painting, but has recently begun experimenting with a two-dimensional medium he calls “light drawing.” These compositions are handmade holograms created by abrading sheets of PEGT plastic in order to reflect light in specific patterns. Contemplative and immersive, the works are meant to transform under different lighting. “With the art I have been exploring for a little over two years it is impossible to separate one’s individual subjective experience from the object, because no two people can experience seeing the same thing at the same time,“ says Minden.
