About Janaina Tschäpe

Janaina Tschäpe’s work, from her photographs and videos to her paintings and cutouts, expresses a flourishing creativity attune to earthly landscapes, ethereal female forms, as well as aqueous tones and biological forms. Her imagery includes: a figure suspended from life inhabiting a public space, a fictional creature of latex and inflatables dwelling in a botanical milieu, and an earthly haven of biomorphic patches loosely appearing between streaming plant life. Indeed, Tschäpe is a wonderfully diverse artist, whose work spans across multiple mediums and amalgamates a sensibility towards nature and an inquisitive flare into mythology.
