Jane Harris, ‘Separate Arrangements 4’, 2015, Rabley Contemporary

In Jane Harris’ drawing and painting the motif floats and reflects as the sheen of the marks work in balance to the surface. Detailed adjustments made to the proportions, the edging and the relative positioning of the shapes, gives an unexpected individuality, visual rhythm and sensual playfulness. In the process of making paintings, the drawn shape is always the starting point. Selected Exhibitions: Two Rooms Gallery, New Zealand; Espace culturel François Mitterrand, Périgueux; Odetta Gallery, Brooklyn, New York; Musée des Beaux Arts - Libourne. Selected Public Collections: Arts Council England; The Government Art Collection; Southampton City Art Gallery; Birmingham City Art Gallery; Colorado University Art Museum.
