About Jason Wright
Jason Wright’s pared-down, geometric paintings are inspired by the notion of home as a structure that embodies human values and reflects an individual’s needs. His acrylic and oil paintings underscore the often-overlooked elements of ordinary objects, frequently featuring isolated objects devoid of backgrounds or surrounding scenery; this intentional omission is meant to highlight the simple structures in which people find comfort. Using a palette knife to ensure precise angles and build bold swatches of color, the artist reduces his subject matter to essential forms through graphic shapes, bold lines, and stark color contrasts. Raised in Hawaii, Wright grew up immersed in skate and surf culture and began his artistic career by creating graphics for skateboards, snowboards, and surfboards.
