Jay Lizo is an artist and curator living and working in Los Angeles. Lizo’s practice is open in scope and includes paintings, collages and wall installations. Lizo’s work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica, CA; Torrance Art Museum, Torrance, CA; Blum & Poe Gallery, New York, NY; the Sea/Space Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; High Desert Test Sites in Joshua Tree, CA; Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, CA; Oxnard, Cypress, and Long Beach Colleges; Eagle Rock Center for the Arts, Los Angeles, CA; Elephant Space, Los Angeles, CA; Raid Projects, Los Angeles, CA; Seeline Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; and Kristi Engle Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; in addition to exhibitions in St. Louis, MI, New York, NY, and Austria. Jay’s active presence in the LA art community notably includes his role as co-founder of the Highland Park artist-run space, Monte Vista Projects, which provides a platform for art and conversation, emphasizing experimentation and artworks that contribute to non-traditional dialogues.
