Jean-Baptiste Valadie, ‘Itineraires’, 2008, BOCCARA ART

Born in 1933 in Brive-la-Gaillarde, Jean-Baptiste is an artistic polymath who has
achieved mastery in many different media: painting, lithography, engraving,
tapestry, sculpture and ceramics.

He is well known for his depictions of the female
figure, children, birds, and the sun are also common motifs in his work.

In the past, Jean-Baptiste’s artwork had been exhibited extensively throughout
Europe, the U.S., Australia, South Africa, Senegal, and South Africa.

For more than ten years, however, he has lived a cloistered existence in
Marrakech, purposefully hidden from the world, drawing on the inspiration of his
surroundings to cultivate a new style.

Out of Jean-Baptiste’s decade in the shadows comes a new collection of collages
that will inspire a new generation of art lovers.
