Jean-François Rauzier, ‘Vestibule’, 2011, Waterhouse & Dodd

“In the park of the Chateau of Versailles there used to be 220 white marble statues that have been exposed for up to 300 years’ worth of weather, and especially freezing winters. They are now gradually being restored and stored inside the chateau, while copies replace them in the park outside.
I imagine these beautiful statues, resuscitated by the restoration, being reborn and placed as guardians on the stairs of the grand vestibule of the Chateau. “
