The Maple tabletop features one bronze ring inlay stabilizing a crack. And the surface is painted with a variety of bleach and oxidizing solutions. Applied clear, the solutions cause chemical changes in the tannins of the wood itself to cause a painting to emerge. This lack of control and spirit of gestures is the focal point of Jeff's painted wooden works.
The biomorphic cast bronze legs have been treated with a heavily concentrated solution of silver nitrate, and built up with intense heat - clumping to the surface of the cast bronze, before being neutralized and sealed with lacquer.
This is the first table piece to come out of the studio.
