Born in England, Jennifer Hornyak moved to Canada in 1961, and she now has a vigorous studio practice in Montreal. Her figurative compositions are built up through a complex technique of rich purples, green, yellow, red, pink and white glazes. Hornyak was invited to participate in the World Exhibition in Paris in 1987 along with Modigliani, Picasso and van Dongen. Her work has been exhibited throughout Europe and North America. This work was recently exhibited in The Figure Revisited, at the McClure Gallery of the Visual Arts in Montreal. "We cannot reproduce nature, nor should we want to. All we can do is see and feel, and aim to transcend ourselves." Jennifer Hornyak
