About Jim Houser

Painter and installation artist Jim Houser has always seen his work as a poetic catalog of everyday experience. Using stylized figures, hand-drawn typography, patterns, line work, and flat color, Houser has developed a pictorial language that explores diverse interests, including speech cadences, science fiction, health, illness, flora, fauna, sports, ghosts, children’s pictures, and codes. For an exhibition in 2009, he composed a soundtrack of original instrumental music that interpreted the tone, rhythm, and syncopated repetition of his artwork.
