John Sloan, ‘Philadelphia Stock Exchange’, 1897-1889, Delaware Art Museum

The distinctive architecture of the Stock Exchange (now the Merchant's Exchange Building) dominates this small canvas, which may be Sloan's earliest painting of a city street scene. This building lay within blocks of his studio.
