This small, square oil on canvas en plein air landscape painting was painted by Hudson Valley based artist, Judy Reynolds. The composition features a golden marshland during winter. With a palette of delicate yellow, blue, grey, white, and brown the artist transports the viewer to the winter-time scene. Tall brown grasses appear in the foreground against a snow white field with a peaceful stream flowing through it. A yellow sunset descends in the background. The scene appears to be just before sunset, as the warm yellow sunlight hues reflect off the cloudy blue skies and snowy white field. The brushwork is smooth as there is little texture built upon the canvas. Judy Reynolds signed the painting in the lower left corner in oil paint. The 8 x 8 canvas is complimented with a thick black frame, which measures 13.5 x 13.5 x 2 inches.

Artist Statement:
Primarily self-taught, I’ve created landscapes and still-life paintings in either oil or pastel medium for over 30 years. As a native of the Hudson Valley, most of my work is centered upon the Hudson River and surrounding mountains, fields, and marshes, but I’m also inspired by the dreamy marshlands in Maine. My favorite seasons to capture on canvas are late fall and early spring filled with sunsets, storm endings and foggy marshes, rich with the changing colors of the seasons.

Celebrating 25 years representing artists of the Hudson Valley and beyond, Carrie Haddad Gallery hosts 7 exhibits a year featuring painting, photography, mixed media and large and small sculpture.
