Threads of clear on translucent steel blue glass create shimmering shadows on the wall behind this grouping of three Cocoons by Canadian artist Julia Reimer. Each cocoon shape features a central hole, like that of a bird's nest such as that of the oriole. This side by side installation measures 15 x 18 x 5 inches. Staggered vertical installation measure 35 x 17 x 5 inches. This sculpture can be installed in various arrangements. Each element is secured to the wall with a simple pin and bolt mechanism. All hardware is included.
Reimer's original designs and meticulous craftsmanship have been recognized through scholarships and awards from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, The Corning Museum of Glass and the Canada Council for the Arts. As well, her work is featured in the publication 500 Glass Objects and she is the inaugural recipient of the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery’s National Award for Excellence.
