About Julian Rosefeldt
In his opulent, melodramatic films and videos, Julian Rosefeldt reflects upon historical and contemporary events and the human condition. He has explored such themes as striving and failure and has critically questioned German history and the West’s involvement in the Middle East. Stunned Man (2004), one of Rosefeldt’s major works, is an absurdist take on the cult of constant productivity. It shows the same man caught in a seemingly endless cycle of destroying and reassembling two identical but separate apartments.
