About the work
Julien Carretero
French, b. 1983
Follow

Julien Carretero breaks the mold with his designs for furniture and household products, inventing and experimenting with new casting techniques. To create the undulating biomorphic forms of his “To Be Continued” benches, Carretero used a single mold to cast slices of the furniture in different colors—the mold mutates with each casting, allowing the composite to determine its own irregular shape. Always seeking new expressive means for traditional materials, for his “Stencil” line Carretero used an intensely heat-resistant fabric to craft molds for aluminum lamps and tables.
