Portrait drawn with a fine pencil that emphasizes the lady's facial expressions and clothing in equal detail. Probably the mother of the important Düsseldorf painter Eduard Bendemann (1811-1889), whose sister Pauline Charlotte Hübner married. He shows his mother-in-law.

Signature: monogrammed and dated in the centre right: "JH 1845."
