Kathy Buist, ‘Allegro’, 2016, Galerie d'Orsay

Atmospheric and ethereal, Kathy Buist’s abstract landscapes play on the elemental sensibility of sun, water and morning mist to capture the spirit of her environment and the transformative qualities of light. Working along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, Buist incorporates crushed shells and sand, truly imbuing the canvas with nature. Mainly working in oil, she builds up luminescence in her works through careful layering of color and energetic brush-stroke.
