Please read the complete description before contacting us, and note that we require all serious inquiries to be made by telephone, so you must include your phone number with any message. Important provenance! KAWS' first life size companion sculpture - almost 50 inches high, created in 2007 in a limited edition of only 100. These are becoming increasingly scarce. But what makes this particular Companion so collectible is that it comes from a famous collection. We will provide the actual provenance by telephone to serious collectors only, and we will provide written proof of provenance and a Certificate of Guarantee to the buyer who acquires this work. This Companion was acquired soon after it was first created back in 2007 - when there was no issues about authenticity. The attorneys representing our client have also spoken personally with KAWS' attorney, who has spoken to KAWS about this work and kindly confirmed to us that KAWs was aware famous prior owner purchased this Companion. This work has remained in the same collection the entire time. This piece has also been formally appraised by a top West Coast certified fine art appraiser, as part of the decedent's entire collection.

We are honored to have the opportunity to offer such a special piece of art history first to our online clients. Completely fresh to market - this particular work has never passed through public auction or offered previously. But again what makes this work so collectible - and so incredibly cool - is the collection it comes from. This Companion, considered a Toy when it was first introduced to the market, will be an amazing conversation piece, from a person, who is, par excellence, forever associated with Toys.

Please contact us via Artsy and provide your name and telephone number; we will call you back with the present location of the work, and provenance. We are open to serious offers that factor in the unique history of this particular Companion and why it is more collectible than the others. We will not negotiate via email or messaging. Serious inquiries only.

About KAWS

“KAWS” is a graffiti artist, illustrator, painter, sculptor, product designer, and toymaker. His cartoonish style—including his best-known characters with X-ed out eyes—has its roots in his early career as a street artist, when he began replacing advertisements with his own, masterful acrylic paintings in the early 1990s. Since, KAWS has embraced the commercialist spirit of Claes Oldenburg and Takashi Murakami, designing everything from Kanye West album covers to Nike sneakers. Avoiding the distinction between products and art objects, KAWS has shown his work increasingly in galleries and museums over the past decade; some of his most famous images are reimagined versions of pop characters like Mickey Mouse and the Michelin Man.
