About Keisuke Yamamoto
Keisuke Yamamoto is a multi-disciplinary artist who makes drawings and paintings, though favors sculpture made with wood. His best known works feature plant and fairy motifs, in compositions that at times resemble dense forests. For these works, Yamamoto tries to include both a sense of rising and of bottomlessness. In his early works, Yamamoto would appropriate and transform common objects, like match sticks and dining tables, but his work had slowly grown in scale over the course of his career, reaching monumental sizes in recent years. After the economic recession and the more recent devastating earthquakes, Yamamoto decided to reconsider his approach to sculpture and to revisit smaller and simpler forms.
