About Kelli Connell
Through digital manipulation of multiple scanned negatives, Kelli Connell composes realistic composite photographs of scenes that never actually occurred. Derived from Connell’s personal experiences and events she has witnessed, the scenes of her “Double Life” series depict Connell playing two separate roles, appearing as if they were two people in an intimate relationship. The self-portraits represent Connell’s autobiographical questioning of sexuality and gender roles that shape identity. “This work is an honest representation of the duality or multiplicity of the self in regards to decisions about intimate relationships, family, belief systems, and lifestyle options,” she says.
