About Kit Reuther

Self-taught artist Kit Reuther is interested in the figurative potential of abstract compositions. Working in both sculpture and painting, Reuther deconstructs representational forms, reconstituting them in expressive canvases and totemic three-dimensional forms that suggest the human figure. As she pieces together painted shapes and scribbles or carved wooden and wax objects, Reuther creates work that recalls masters of abstract sculpture and painting like Louise Nevelson, Cy Twombly, Alberto Giacometti, and Constantin Brancusi.
