Koen Vanmechelen, ‘Moments of Fame II’, 2012, Amstel Gallery

COMBAT was perhaps Koen Vanmechelen’s hardest battle back in 2012. Not only did he struggle with the limitations of the historical chambers in Alden Biesen and their ‘occupation’ by the Knights of the Teutonic Order, but these 4 photo's out of the thirty plus art works shown in the exhibition in 2012, also signify a new orientation in Vanmechelen’s comprehensive crossbreeding experiment The Cosmopolitan Chicken Project. Old and new works, visible and invisible layers of meaning, known and surprising shapes are vying for the helm of the Cosmopolitan Chicken Project. And their creator. Thes 4 works in their golden, decadent frames mark a momentum in Koen Vanmechelen's great legacy.
