Kyne
Japanese

Kyne often depicts lithe, dark-haired women, closely cropped and gazing out of their solid backgrounds. The Japanese artist’s flat, graphic style takes inspiration from graffiti, the illustrations of Patrick Nagel, and the work of Kyne’s occasional collaborator Takashi Murakami. Kyne began making art in high school; studied nihonga, a traditional style of Japanese painting with Western influences, at university; and created graffiti before shooting to art world success. He has exhibited in Tokyo, collaborated with a number of fashion brands, and created a mural for the Fukuoka Art Museum.
