laura beaumont, ‘The Mystery of the Hidden House’, 2017, Gallery Different

Laura Beaumont works in series. Each piece is unique but she will work on a series of up to 10 sculptures using the same book title. Each piece has a story which is integral to the piece:

The Five Find-Outers and Dog are Fatty, Larry, Daisy, Pip, Bets and Fatty's Scottie dog, Buster. Fatty's real name is Frederick Algernon Trotteville and, unfortunately for him, his initials fit him to a tee.

This is Enid Blyton’s lesser known mystery series about five children who have adventures.

The Finder Outers had often chatted about what the mystery of the Hidden House might be. Betts said it was probably treasure. Pip thought it might be a meeting place for another Secret Gang. Fatty thought it might be an illegal Custard Factory. Buster imagined a big stack of bones. Larry was hoping they’d find a sailor all tied up with his trousers down…

Unfortunately, none of them had ever heard of the Cthulhu Mythos.
