Artist's Statement
The series addresses landscape around the city of Johannesburg at a time when urban transformation and scars of the past are still visible. The complex historical layering as well as the inescapable political content of the South African landscape lead me to develop polyptych images which intend to question my position in the landscape as well as the notion of the unique point-of-view.

Biography
Laurence Bonvin was born in Switzerland and studied photography in Arles, France. Bonvin photographic work is mostly concerned with suburban environments, phenomena and landscapes. In 2012 she co-realised the film After Vegas with Stéphane Degoutin. Recent shows include Communitas, Camera Austria, Graz; In/Out (Photo Workshop Gallery, Johannesburg, 2011) On The Edges (CPIF, Paris, 2010), On Location (Museum für Photographie, Braunschweig, 2009), On The Edges Of Paradise (Center for Photography, Geneva, 2008), L’Europe en devenir (Swiss Center Cultural, Paris, 2007), The Photographers (with Juul Hondius, Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, Istanbul, 2007), Global Cities (Tate Modern, Londres, 2007), Welt Bilder 2 (Helmhaus, Zürich, 2007). She is the author of 4 publications : Ghostown (Madrid Abierto, 2010), Freizeit (Atelier Schönhauser Berlin, 2009), On The Edges Of Paradise (edition fink, Zürich, 2008), Cahier d’artiste, Laurence Bonvin (Pro Helvetia & Edizione Perifieria, 2007).
She currently lives and works between Geneva and Berlin.
