Though she received two degrees in photography, Laurie Lambrecht designed hand-knit sweaters for nearly a decade, during which time she did not touch a camera. Since 1990, when Lambrecht returned to photography, she has produced work that pays great attention to color and surface. Her series titled “China” (2009-10) is an assembly of images featuring natural and man-made patterns in such a way that makes them appear almost abstract; another series titled “Lake Trees” (2006-09) is a study of the form and texture of trees. Lambrecht is perhaps most renowned for her monograph and photographs of Roy Lichtenstein in his studio, assembled from her years as his assistant.
