About Leslie Shows
Using ink, poured paint, and collage materials like scraps, found images, and snapshots, Leslie Shows creates mixed-media landscapes that shift between pure painterly abstraction and isometric projections. Mimicking the process of nature—dripping, pouring, wearing away—Shows’s processes are at once literal and metaphorical. Like artists Tom McGrath, Kristin Baker, and Lia Halloran, Shows is concerned with environmental issues, particularly degradation and destruction at the hands of humans. Shows contrasts two different time scales: long-range geological time and the shorter history of human civilization.
