Liviu Stoicoviciu, ‘Baroque Dome’, 2002, Jecza Gallery

After a decade of activity, Liviu Stoicoviciu appears as one of the most interesting artists in the second experimental-constructivist generation, given the stages he covered and the rigour of the permutational research he does. In the early 1980s, during his debut, Liviu Stoicoviciu painted complex geometric structures he wrapped in lights and coloured shadows, enhancing their crystalline structure. The principle of his structural approach, argues the painter himself, is the following: „Geometrical, optical, kinetic and permutational art or computer art work, in general, with basic elements equal to one another [...] I was tempted to make these elements unequal, to make them grow, but to have them match each other.” - Andrei Pintilie 1983
